Terms & Conditions

General Terms

  1. By choosing to submit goods to Ramsdens Financial Limited (referred to as "Ramsdens"), customers acknowledge and accept these terms and conditions, even if the Customer Declaration remains unsigned.
  2. Customers must be aged 18 or older, reside in the UK, and be the rightful owner of the items they submit. They must act solely on their own behalf when dealing with Ramsdens.
  3. Items submitted for evaluation or sale must be free from any legal claims or encumbrances. Customers must also confirm that the submission of items does not contravene any applicable laws, including those related to money laundering or illicit activities.
  4. Ramsdens reserves the right to request proof of ownership or additional documentation to ensure compliance with these terms.
  5. Items that are hazardous, counterfeit, or lack precious metal content will not be accepted.

Shipping and Insurance

  1. All items should be sent to Ramsdens using the supplied Royal Mail Special Delivery pack unless otherwise agreed. Items are the customer's responsibility until Ramsdens receives and signs for them. Royal Mail’s standard insurance covers parcels up to £750; customers can increase this coverage by paying an extra fee at the Post Office.
  2. It is the customer's responsibility to securely package their parcels and include their reference number and valuation form (supplied in the requested pack). Ramsdens may reject delivery of packages that appear damaged, tampered with, or incomplete. Such packages will be returned without charge and without liability to Ramsdens.
  3. Packages that don’t contain the provided reference number and valuation form that we are unable to identify, will be treated as lost property and held for six months. Customers must provide detailed descriptions to reclaim such items. After six months, unclaimed items may be processed to recover storage costs.

Gemstone Policy

  1. While Ramsdens accepts gemstones in settings, their value is typically minimal unless the gemstone is particularly valuable. High-value gemstones may be considered in the final offer where applicable.

Valuation and Offers

  1. After receipt, items will undergo testing and assessment by Ramsdens. Assessments are primarily based on current metal market prices.
  2. Testing methods may include testing solutions or other techniques, which might result in permanent marks or scratches. By submitting items, customers consent to this process.
  3. Ramsdens will issue an offer based on the tested weight and carat of the items. If the customer cannot be contacted within 28 days, this will result in an automatic acceptance of the offer, and payment for the item(s) will be sent via the preferred payment method. The associated items will be sent for processing.
  4. Offers remain valid for 28 days from the date of offer email. Once an offer is accepted, it becomes legally binding and irreversible.
  5. Items with no value will only be returned if specifically requested, and may be at the customers expense.

Payment Options

  1. Once an offer is accepted, payments will be made via bank Transfer or Cheque, depending on the customers payment preference.
  2. Bank Transfer payments are processed within 48 business hours of acceptance.

Returns Policy

  1. If an offer is declined, items will be returned within five working days at no charge. If the same items are resubmitted, market price changes will apply.

Liability

  1. Ramsdens are not liable for losses or damages exceeding the value of the items you send to us. Nor are we responsible for any damage or loss due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to fire, theft, or natural disasters.

Claims for Loss

  1. Claims related to lost or damaged parcels must be directed to Royal Mail. Customers are advised to retain proof of postage and tracking details. Claims will consider only the scrap value of metals, excluding rarity or gemstone value.

Legal Details

  1. This agreement is governed by the laws of England, Scotland, and Wales. Any disputes will be settled under these jurisdictions.
  2. Ramsdens reserves the right to amend these terms without prior notice, and customers should review them regularly.
  3. Ramsdens complies with the Data Protection Act 2018 and ensures the secure handling of customer information. Personal data will only be used with customer consent.
  4. By submitting items to Ramsdens Financial Limited, customers agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
